Cowon System Wins Huge MP3P Contract from Eastern Europe
February 16, 2006
Korean Cowon System has signed its largest-ever MP3 player contract with Russian Blade Group, worth up to US$62 million. In the next three years, Cowon System will supply MP3 players and PMPs (Portable Multimedia Player) to Blade Group, the largest IT channel player in Russia with extensive distribution networks in 15 countries, including Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Estonia. MP3 players will be provided to Blade Group initially, followed by HDD devices and PMPs. This deal is expected to push Cowon System's MP3 player shipment volume in Eastern Europe to two million units in 2006. Blade Group also sells MP3 players by Samsung and Reigcom; those by Cowon System account for the largest share in Blade Group's sales.
